Ticks, ticks, ticks, and, oh look, more ticks! (Plus a Biblical Creationist!)

Tick count: 7. I found 7 ticks on me today. How many in my hair? 2. Talk about a rough day in the tick business!

Today Abby and I taught home schoolers. The age gap was wide and the intelligence levels were high! Talk about bright kids. These kids were very smart, well mannered, and seemed to have spent a fair amount of time in nature; one even brought a net to catch things with! The highlight of the hike had to be the squirrel that fell out of the tree and landed right in front of us on the trail. We all had a good laugh about it. Today was different because we were at the Farmstead instead of the Learning Center. We were still able to make it back to the observatory and back around the wetland.

One very special moment for me had to be during the snake show had to be when a boy asked, "Did you know snakes used to have legs in Biblical times?" It lit up my whole day. Finally, another Biblical creationist. I live by conservative Christian values and it was nice to see families raising the next generation like that. It's hard to find in our time and culture. Especially at Goshen College! Another bonus from this was finding out another person in our class was a Biblical creationist. Wow! Though not as vocal as me, as many aren't, it was a good ice breaker for others to talk to me about it.

To end this post, I must say I thought homeschooled kids were a bit antisocial. At least in my experience of course. Today, overall, gave me a good look at homeschooled kids and how they are different from others. I must admit I have considered homeschooling my kids and today gave me confidence it was be done very effectively.
