Rocks rock!

Topics addressed today:
1. How has the landscape changed over time at Merry Lea?
2. What are some forces that change the landscape?
3. How do the rocks and soil influence the plants and animals that live here?


Highlights of the day
1. The bog. Watching the students' reaction, enough said.
2. The grandure of looking back at the esker. When the students looked back at the esker they were able to put together all the things they had learned and appreciate some of the beautiful details of nature. They were able to not only notice the obvious height but the difference in soil types in in the esker.
3. Rock scavenger hunt/interactive discussion. The students were engaged in the processes that make rocks look the way that they do. Today made me look at rocks as evidence of earth's past rather than a nuisance  that slide into shoes.
