5th Grade Party!

Friday was SUPER FUN with the fifth graders. It was fantastic to hang out with them and play my favorite game of all time. I loved their energy, and their ability to find fun in everything even if the weather wasn't perfect.

I had a wonderful time learning and teaching with Jonathan Schramm about geology. He is so intelligent and fun to learn from, and it was unique to see him teach in a different type of setting. The fifth graders had a blast trying to find the differences between the three types of rocks, and they could not even begin to fathom how cool it was that they were looking at mastodon bones. So cool!

Then I got to play my favorite game, and the kids loved it. The teachers were a blast to play with, and they loved being poop! The kids seemed to learn quite a bit, even if our time was squished a couple times. I was happy with my teaching, even though conditions weren't perfect.

Today's picture is a simple one, but recently I have really been finding beauty in the simplicity. I, along with Erin, noticed that the dandelions were really beautiful recently, as their big full heads of seeds were very delicate and perfect. My father-in-law always told me that a weed only means that you have a plant in a location that you do not want it to be. In this way, I don't feel like dandelions are weeds when I see them out here in nature, and not on turf.
