As I stated in my last blog: I am a secondary education major. I'm not supposed to enjoy little ones! For some reason, little ones seem so easy to communicate with and they are much easier at getting attached to the task at hand... These kindergartners have much more energy than the preschoolers we had yesterday. However, it was never a problem. Their energy brought excitement! Add the beautiful weather, the adorable kids, teaching with Abby, and being outside all day, I was also excited. The students filled in a lot of curriculum by themselves today by asking a lot of questions about stuff they saw and found. The highlight of their excitement was the vernal pond. The concept fascinated them and they loved catching everything. A bonus was that there was a lot more critters this time. This could also have something to do with the weather. They found tadpoles, aquatic worms, prudacious diving beetles, mosquito larva, crayfish, and even a few mites. Some of the downsides of today include many students having to use the restroom. Once one kid said something about having to go we had them go with a chaperon back to the learning center. However, when we arranged this, all of a sudden everyone had to use the restroom. So, we went back to the learning center then got back on task. This also impacted more things we wanted to show them near Mary's Meadow, which we had to rush by instead of examine. We ended up going by the trail head some more to kill some time and met everyone by the canopy for lunch.
