Day One: Completed

Merry Lea is full of unexpected occurances. It is far easier to anticipate and plan the direction and intention of lessons within the confines of classroom walls. It is unnerving to realize we could encounter any creature while on the trails. Perhaps I have interesting information on the creature for the students; perhaps I don't. While I realize that it is not my role to emulate an environmentalist, I feel compelled to learn as much as I can so that I can enhance their experience at Merry Lea as best as I can.  Today was a nice blend of having thr students form hypothesises and teacher given information. The children especially loved eating the Garlic Mustard plant. It was beautiful to watch them engage and respecfully manipulate their environment. They touched. They smelled. They listened. They tasted. They experienced.
