Today started off a little hectic and rushed. Since we did not have students the last two days due to inclement weather, I decided to go to Goshen for a while to visit people there. I got up and was planning on leaving in order to get to Merry Lea in time but then the teacher decided she wanted to start the field trip an hour early. Cassie Caterpillar and I hurried up and left almost immediately after getting the message so that we would hopefully be on time. All the rushing paid off when we were able to get to Farmstsead on time!
Today we had a group of around 75 third graders. It was quite cold and raining all day so I was a little worried about whether or not the students would be excited or not. When they got there, I realized that they were totally pumped and not at all letting the weather bring them down. They were so enthusiastic about everything. At the end, many students when asked what their favorite part of the day was, said "EVERYTHING!" which was pretty awesome to hear.
I was working at the ID station with Stacy Squirrel and Liz Lizard and in my opinion, we did a great job. We worked well together and planned specific sections for each person to teach so that we weren't talking over top of anyone else. The students were extremely intrigued by the different macros and loved identifying them. Overall, I think today went very well despite the curve ball the weather was throwing at us!
For supper, Tom, our fearless leader, made us food on the grill and we played lawn games for hours. It was so much fun hanging out with everyone and playing different games. The food was amazing and we were able to put a dent in our crazy supply of hamburger meat! It was a great way to end the day.
